Farm School Program
The Farm School Program is located approximately 20 kilometres from Saskatoon. It is a referral-based high school program designed to meet the individual needs of “at-risk” students. The Farm School Program serves mainly grades 9-11 students and offers four regular credits.
Benefits of the program include:
• smaller class sizes with a 10-1 student-teacher ratio, with additional staff support to meet individual needs
• the opportunity for “at-risk” students to obtain credits without losing time out of school
• transportation to and from school
• a supervised school day in a calm, structured environment
• a home setting in a rural environment where the students are involved in a peaceful, positive learning environment
• students having the opportunity to learn life skills through: landscaping, gardening, operating and repairing equipment and tools, caring for animals, photography, cooking and fine arts skills
Substance Abuse Awareness Program
The Substance Abuse Awareness Program, offered at the Farm School, is a referral program for Greater Saskatoon Catholic high school students which:
• offers a two-week education program that focuses on substance abuse
• allows students to continue their academic classes during the two weeks, with support and cooperation from their home schools and Farm School staff
• provides students with intensive education, up-to-date materials and support with substance abuse issues
• offers one-on-one and group support, including peer counselling
• allows students to connect with other students who are having similar challenges
• provides a forum for presentations of information, discussing and sharing
