"In the spirit of Reconciliation, the Coming Home Society supports Aboriginal youth impacted by inter-generational trauma by developing, enhancing, and promoting programs that restore cultural identity and build strong community connections.
About COMING HOME SOCIETY
Working in partnership with Urban Native Youth Association, the Coming Home Society supports vulnerable First Nations youth ages 13 to 25 who are hungry for belonging, and for connection with their culture. We work to help youth reclaim their heritage of traditional knowledge, skills, language and spirituality which were all but destroyed under Canada's Residential School system. We fund Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and skilled counselors to help youth overcome trauma and substance misuse and equip them to create healthy families of their own.
The Coming Home Society also works in partnership with Warriors Against Violence Society to help First Nations families heal from domestic violence. Anger and abuse are legacies of the Residential School system and we support this program's work to counsel individuals and families so that they can raise their children in safety and peace.
