Nous œuvrons à la défense et la promotion des droits humains en réciprocité avec les mouvements sociaux et communautés d’Amérique latine.
Our Mission
The Committee for Human Rights in Latin America (CDHAL) is a solidarity organization whose main objective is to defend and promote human rights in reciprocity with social movements and communities in Latin America in the fight for social, environmental, economic and cultural justice.
Vision and Values
For CDHAL, the defense and promotion of human rights occur through collective actions in the public space and among policy makers. While violations of human rights extend beyond borders, CDHAL includes an intercultural dimension in its work based on an internationalist worldview. CDHAL adopts the vision of indigenous peoples who believe that the Earth is not a commodity.
The mission of CDHAL is guided by values of:
- human dignity and autonomy
- equality and fairness
- commitment and resilience
Action
The mission of CDHAL aims to:
-
support communities, grassroots movements and human rights defenders in Latin America and Quebec, as well as exchange experiences and share common values
-
raise awareness and promote social engagement within the population of Quebec
Thus, CDHAL is an anchoring place for activists who are involved actively in the organization of its activities.
Through its comprehensive approach, the actions of CDHAL contribute to the development of a critical analysis of the oppressive structures of our society and of international solidarity and encourage Canadian, Quebec and Latin American governments to adopt an international policy that prioritizes the respect of human rights.
