Since the start of the COVID-19 crisis in Canada, Community Food Centres Canada (CFCC) has provided over $25 million in emergency relief to our most vulnerable neighbours, including children, single parents, Indigenous people, seniors, and those on disability supports. These funds helped food access organizations in hundreds of communities across Canada quickly purchase food and supplies to give to who needed it most.

But our work isn't over.

Before COVID-19 hit, 4.4 million Canadians faced food insecurity–inadequate or irregular access to food due to financial constraints. This number has grown dramatically in the past 10 months.

This means that we have to work even harder than we have before. Our centres across the country have adapted their operations to support their communities while maintaining public safety. Community meals have become take out meals. Food and wellness courses have gone online. Child and youth cooking programs have changed to weekend food backpacks. And there are opportunities for us to do so much more.
