The Community Food Resource Network opened its doors in Caledonia, Queens County in 2019. Our mission statement is simple: “To increase food security through food distribution, community collaborations and education.” Employing innumerable volunteer hours a month, CFRN now provides support for scores of households in our community. While the mission statement is simple, the efforts can be monumental as it requires grants, collaborative relationships with local businesses and generous donations.

The Community Food Resource Network provides approximately ten thousand dollars worth of food and support each month to our community's most vulnerable. CFRN has expanded to offer our community a seasonal garden, a thrift store and engagement with other local initiatives. By sharing with youth sports groups, the community school, The Greenfield food Pantry and other local food banks we have addressed both hunger and poverty in our small village and beyond. We host an annual Winter Clothing event that ensures that our neighbors have enough clothes to keep them warm in the winter. CFRN is more than an organization that feeds our community, it is a local lifeline to many in a remote part of Nova Scotia.
