Peter and Joan Oliver Arts Scholarship Fund

Purpose:

The Shelburne County Arts Council is proud to offer an art scholarship for any graduating student or graduate residing within Shelburne County. This scholarship is intended to reward arts students for past accomplishments and to encourage future pursuits in the arts.

A Brief History

The Shelburne County Arts Council was established in 2001. Our mandate is to support and promote the development of art, artists and art education in Shelburne County. We have a special focus on youth and education as we create opportunities for citizens to engage in a wide range of artistic endeavors. Peter Oliver was director of Basement theatre in Shelburne. He was a mentor and friend to many students. He has been described by his students as being dynamic, fun, challenging, curious, brave yet devoted and a perpetually interesting man who gave something to the people of Shelburne that should be celebrated. Peter will be remembered for his own great accomplishments and for the accomplishments he allowed other people to experience.
