Our Mission

COMMUNITY ONE FOUNDATION is one the few in Canada to build and support individuals and groups that enhance the development of the LGBT communities. The generosity of businesses and people like you enables the Foundation to provide much-needed funding for projects and programs in the areas of education, health, human rights, arts, and culture.

Formerly known as The Lesbian & Gay Community Appeal of Toronto and as LGCA, your contributions to COMMUNITY ONE are directed to where they are most needed in our communities, such as helping youth, addressing homophobia and discrimination, supporting victims of anti-gay violence, supporting seniors, and innovative artistic projects.

Toronto’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/transsexual, and two-spirited communities are vibrant and diverse, due in no small part to the commitment of individuals who provide support and make a contribution to community life in the city. Since 1980, the Foundation has raised funds through an annual giving program and special initiatives.

Making A Donation

COMMUNITY ONE FOUNDATION's granting process uses your donations to focus directly on the needs of the LGBTQ communities. Your support of the the Foundation is a personal and direct way to invest in people and the organizations that make a difference to all of us. Your donations to the Foundation therefore make all the difference.

COMMUNITY ONE FOUNDATION has two separate funds:

-- the Foundation Fund makes grants to charitable organizations (tax receiptable). All donations through CanadaHelps are directed to this Fund.

-- the General Fund supports individuals and organizations that do not have charitable status. Contact Community One personnel (416-920-5422) to donate to the General Fund.
