Beth Hamidrash is a traditional Sephardic congregation which follows the Iraqi service and customs common to our founding members. Today the congregation is very diverse, encompassing Jews from not only Sephardic but also Ashkenazic backgrounds. Congregants hail from such far-flung communities as Iraq, Morocco, Algeria, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Israel, India, France, Shanghai (China), Kobe (Japan), the U.K., South Africa, Zimbabwe, Russia, and many other parts of Canada and the world. These diverse origins make the synagogue a dynamic, exciting, and unique place for religious, social, culinary, and educational experiences.
