Connect 4 Life

about

Connect 4 Life is an Ontario Registered Charity that vows to make a difference by empowering individuals with disabilities to become more independent, contributing members of society. Connect 4 Life’s unique education and training programs are tailored to address all stages of life and encourage skill development along a continuum from basic life skills to full independence including advocacy and referral, life skills workshops, radio broadcast training and job readiness.

Our Mission: “to enhance the potential of individuals with disabilities by strengthening their independence and contributions to society; and, to promote positive social change by transforming public perception.”

Who We Serve: Clients 18 and older in Ontario.

The number of people living with a disability is staggering. According to Statistics Canada, in 2017 there were approximately 6.2 million people, or 22% of the population in Canada living with a disability, and this number will grow with the aging population. In this post-economic crisis climate, due to both a lack of program availability and the absence of financial support to access local programs, the basic service needs of both children and adults in Ontario living with disabilities are left unmet. This trend is also seen across Canada.

As an agency, Connect 4 Life meets the needs of those individuals through the provision of accessible and relevant programming. We offer services in the areas of Training, Advocacy and Referral, Counseling, Public Education and Training, and Voices 4 Ability internet radio station.

Due to the pandemic, we took our programs virtual and continue to do so for the health and safety of our clients. This was also to help our clients stay connected as individuals with disabilities are often isolated and lonely, and it helps them develop skills from the safety and comfort of their own homes.
