Overview
The Cowichan Neighbourhood House (www.CNHA.ca) is a volunteer-run community resource centre providing educational and recreational activities for families, youth, seniors and others, as well as daily food and resources to those in need.
Our Mission
Our philosophy is summarized in our motto -- “neighbours helping neighbours.”
What We Do
We run many events and activities, but our regular programs include: daily Youth drop-in, daily Adult drop in, daily free food (over 2000 lbs/month through Zero Food Waste), Youth Cooking, Free Store (clothing, food, household supplies, etc), workshops (including First Aid and BC Food Safe certification), healthy food classes, literacy & tutoring, daily soup & bun, and special cultural activities for youth & families.
CNHA is thankful for its volunteer base that logs roughly 9,000 volunteer hours per year. We also collaborate with numerous partner organizations in the Cowichan Valley to address various community needs.
