Friends and family of Glenn Hunter, who recently passed away from a brain tumor, are celebrating his life with a generous gift of a mobile library for the Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan Afghanistan Reads! Community Literacy Program.
Says friend Claudia, "When Glenn heard about this library, speaking was getting a bit challenging so he gave a thumb’s up, a smile, and said “cool.” Glenn cared a lot about fairness, and given that his lifetime partner Aislinn is an accomplished author, getting books to people who have little access to them was right up his alley.”
The Glenn Hunter Memorial Mobile Library (like the one below) will be dedicated to Glenn with a permanent plaque and then housed in Kabul, where it will be available to travel to some of the remotest areas of Afghanistan, to reach women of all ages who have never had the opportunity to attend school and who are yearning to learn to read and write and are longing for books of all kinds.
