A Welcoming Christian Community since 1818

The Davenport-Perth United Church is a church of and for the community.  This inter-generational congregation is made up of many diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds.  It is committed to community support, mutual care, enhanced worship experiences and fun in the company of friends.  The church believes that it must be present in the world connecting with the struggles, hopes, and experiences of people in the community.

The Bible tells us that the ministry is bringing good news to the poor, proclaiming liberty to captives and new sight to the blind, setting the downtrodden free and announcing the Lord’s year of favour (Luke 4:18).  Our church is in a fairly poor area, inhabited by communities of less financially fortunate people.  God grants us the eyes to see Jesus in the hunger of the people around us. We are helping these people out by organizing an outreach community meal program and pastoral care including addiction counseling sessions. We help people meet food needs with dignified, respectful services, Christ-centered around food. As we hold our community meals, we share more than a meal. It’s about the church, the community, coming together in God’s love as well as the tangible support of each other. Through our life-giving works, we share God’s peace, love, hope, healing and reconciliation with the wider community.  We sing of God’s mission. Thanks be to God.
