Daytrippers mission is to fund experiential learning opportunities for in-need children across Canada.

Our Impact

Daytrippers is a small charity with huge impact. Since our founding in 2000, Daytrippers has directed over $4,100,000 sending over 372,000 children from across Canada on school trips. We pay no staff and are extremely proud of our best-in-class efficiency ratio among non-profit organizations. Since inception, not including the fundraising cost of our annual event The Battle of the Brains, we have successfully maintained an efficiency ratio of approximately 95%, meaning that 95 cents of every direct dollar raised was used to send children on class trips.

About DAYTRIPPERS CHILDREN'S CHARITY

Daytrippers goal is to ensure Canadian children never miss out on a school trip due to financial constraints. We do this through funding educational trips (e.g. transportation and admission costs) for schools and students that meet our requirements for assistance.

While classroom learning is integral for building healthy thinkers, “outside the classroom” development is critical to fostering healthy, active and productive people. At a young age, children benefit tremendously from multi-dimensional experiences provided through class trips and field days. Sharing, communication, confidence, leadership, respect for self, and respect for others are all traits that are seen in healthy individuals. These are traits children build on school trips.

Through Daytrippers, inner city children have seen their first forest, children from rural communities have visited their first museum, and a few have seen their first escalator! In addition, children with special needs have felt accepted by their classmates by accompanying them on school trips for the first time. At the end of the day, Daytrippers’ main priority is to ensure that Canadian children never miss out on a school trip opportunity due to financial constraints. In many cases, Daytrippers funds the ONLY school trip that these children will take. In other words, if not for Daytrippers, many of the children we sponsor would never have the opportunity to participate in any school trips.

With your donation, everybody wins: STUDENTS have an educational and fun experience that they will remember for a lifetime, TEACHERS are able to create a whole new learning environment unlike anything they can offer in the classroom, and YOU get to make a major difference - along with a tax receipt.
