On Monday morning, February 6, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 struck southern Turkey and northern Syria. The death toll has risen steadily to more than 11,000 and thousands injured, not to mention those who are now homeless. In addition, the cold and snow slow down the search for survivors.
Development and Peace – Caritas Canada is mobilizing to provide emergency assistance to affected populations. More than 15 million people will need humanitarian assistance and support. The organization has released $50,000 to support quickly emergency relief in the field.
