The Didsbury and District Historical Society o/a Didsbury Museum is located in the 1907 Provincial Historic Building called Red Brick School. The museum, established in 1978, tells the story of the founding, settlement and development of Didsbury, Alberta and surrounding area from the arrival of the railroad in 1889. We strive to to preserve our past for future generations. Our vision: To celebrate our heritage through interactive adventure and learning experiences, is supported through our values of Education, Friendliness, Heritage, Inclusiveness, Respect and Service as well as by our core services of Collect, Catalogue, Conserve, Educate, Exhibit, Interpret, Outreach and Research.
Our Motto:
P. R. I. D. E. Preserve. Research. Interpret. Develop. Exhibit.
All of this can only be achieved through the continued efforts of our numerous volunteers working in a safe, secure and well maintained building. Our building is three floors (including basement), elevator equipped and fully wheelchair accessible.
We pride ourselves on providing local groups with an affordable, safe and welcoming place to hold meetings and special events.
As a volunteer driven organization we are constantly looking for ways to celebrate our heritage by developing interesting and interactive displays. Our goal is to be able to provide at least one interactive activity and/or some hands-on items in each of our exhibit rooms.
