image+nation [Montreal LGBTQ FIlm Festival]'s mission is to ensure the telling and sharing of all LGBTQ stories - year long and online.
DGLQ is a not-for-profit organization with a mandate to encourage the production, presentation and promotion of local, national and international LGBTQ film and culture, making these voices part and parcel of the everyday social fabric. Stories to discover. Stories to share.
A pioneer of LGBTQ cinema for over 30 years, DGLQ's primary production, image+nation, Montreal LGBTQ Film Festival is the oldest festival of its kind in Canada, showcasing award-winning local and international films that strive to preserve the authenticity and diversity of LGBTQ voices while chronicling an evolving queer cinematic practice. The Festival explores New Queer Storytelling - both the uniqueness and the universality of these stories - offering audiences contemporary representation of what it means to be LGBTQ in the 21st century.
image+nation’s mission is to promote and prepare both contemporary and future generations of queer storytellers and media makers. Through the development of educational and mentoring initiatives such as I+N Explore (inaugurated in 2016) image+nation continues its dedication to nurturing emerging content for an evolving queer cinema while building empathy through sharing stories with audiences here in Canada and throughout the world with its online initiatives.
image+nation, Montreal LGBTQ Film Festival reflects the beautiful diversity of LGBTQ voices within the Canadian cultural and social landscape and abroad for all to see and to share. Help us bring New Queer Stories to the screen and share YOUR stories.
