Venezuela hit by 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes
At least 920 people are dead and thousands more injured following the two earthquakes that hit Venezuela in under a minute. Hundreds of aftershocks hit the area, which has limited access, as the main port and airport have been affected. The area is already vulnerable, with food insecurity and poor economic and social conditions, so the disaster relief is that much more vital to their rebuilding.
Disaster Aid Canada is in contact with our Disaster Aid International partners at the Rotary Club in the capital, Caracas. We will continue to update our supporters on the disaster relief efforts most needed in the area. Our Disaster Aid USA partners also have a campaign in support, and together we will ensure the funds go to those who need it most.
