DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF ONTARIO
Together we can!
DSAO is a charitable, non-profit organization composed of 19 local Down syndrome associations across the province of Ontario.
Together we coordinate efforts to raise awareness, provide resources to educate, and encourage the positive inclusion of people with Down syndrome and their families.
Our areas of focus include Health Care, Education, and Social Services.
We are currently focusing on:
* In collaboration with MPP Sara Singh and Perfectly Me 21, we are endorsing "Support Harvey & Gurvir's Law" bill 22.
- The Act is further amended to require that members share this information with expectant parent or parents when they communicate a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome and that they refrain from recommending any further testing or treatment in relation to the diagnosis of Down syndrome for a 48-hour period unless explicitly requested or unless the member is of the opinion that the performance of the testing or treatment is necessary during the 48-hour period.
* Launch of YouTube Channel
- Our goal with this Youtube channel is to help create an environment for friends, family and kids to enjoy, while also giving back to the community that supports us. We envisioned this channel to be a resource of educational, motivational and entertaining video contents for our members and the community at large.
In our channel, we are happy to partner with MTAO (Music Therapists of Ontario) to curate specialized music sessions for all age groups. In addition working with various fitness experts and instructors to bring activity segments such as yoga, dance parties to our community at large. We also aim to provide various resources to help stimulate all aspects of our mental and physical health.
Your donation support will directly fund these and other initiatives with immediate effects to all local families and individuals in communities across the province.
Thank you in advance!
