When a critical health emergency happens requiring patient transport to a larger Hospital, our Northern region faces many challenges...great distances between communities, extreme winter weather conditions, paramedic skill-set limitations, need for medical escorts, and limited neuro, thoracic, stroke, spine, burn and pediatric services!
An Emergency Regional Response Team based in Terrace's Mills Memorial Hospital will be one of 3 Teams for Northern BC -the others located in Fort St. John, and Prince George. This is part of the higher level of Trauma Care that will be available in our new-build hospital. This Team will provide equitable access to life-saving care irrespective of the patient's location, improved response time, better positioned advanced care in our own ER/ICU, and bring more advanced care to the patient without the need to always transport to a higher level of care.
The Emergency Regional Response Team will coordinate: 911 Response with Hospital Team Integration and Interfacility Transfers.
