Arcadian Early Learning, operated by the Duncan Daycare Society cares for up to 60 children on a daily basis. These children age from infancy through to five years. Following a Reggio Emila inspired format, we spend a majority of our time outdoors in our playspaces, using a nature focused method. We are nestled in a living forest, while capturing views of our valley. With this in mind, we are also operating within a community that is challenged with some of the highest youth poverty rates in the province of BC. As a result, we strive to find unique methods of maintaining our costs of operation and our fees as low as possible, while retaining the value of service we have been providing since 1974.
Typical to our climate, and the level of wear and tear from our young friends: our play spaces are in desparate need of an update. At present, some of our units are showing signs of fatigue and weathered parts that are in need of repair/replacement. Due to the limited funds, we are seeking assistance from donors in hopes to replace our products soon, while retaining our nature-based forum.
