About DURHAM OUTLOOK

Durham Outlook is a non-profit organization established in 1990 by local Oshawa residents. Durham Outlook's core program is St. Vincent Pallotti's Kitchen - Durham Region's only seven-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year soup kitchen.  

With the leadership of more than 900 volunteers per month, St. Vincent Pallotti's Kitchen serves an average of 130 people per day who are experiencing poverty and food insecurity.  Annually, it serves 50,000 meals per year.  Since 1990, it has served 1.2 million meals.

8% of Oshawa residents are food insecure, meaning that they do not have access to nutritious food on a daily basis.  For single parents, that number rises to 22%.  For those on social assistance, the number is an alarming 55%.  49% of GTA food bank users have a physical disability.  47% of Canadians are living paycheque to paycheque.  Food insecurity affects everyone.

Durham Outlook believes that no one should have to choose between food or shelter, nourishment or dignity, warmth or compassion.

Durham Outlook is calling on individuals to help them address poverty and food insecurity by supporting its new facility and the expansion of its programs and services,, through financial donations.
