The Earl Naswell Community Christmas Dinner
Keeping a Comox Valley tradition alive since 1982
For over 40 years, the Earl Naswell Community Christmas Dinner has ensured that no one in the Comox Valley goes without a festive meal on Christmas Day. What began as a small gathering hosted by Earl Naswell and his family has grown into a community-wide effort—now preparing 1,000 meals in 2025.
In 2020, the dinner shifted from a sit-down event to a home-delivery program. Today, decorated meal bags filled with a full turkey and ham dinner, desserts, and holiday treats are delivered across the Valley, with 100+ volunteers and professional chefs working tirelessly from December 23–25 to make it happen.
This incredible growth comes at a cost with growing annual expenses covering food, supplies, storage, insurance, and administration. The event remains 100% free for guests and is entirely funded by local donations and sponsorships.
In 2023, volunteers established the Earl Naswell Community Christmas Society, achieving Registered Charity status in 2025 to secure Earl’s legacy for the future.
