Easter Seals Summer Camp
Easter Seals BC & Yukon is a service of the British Columbia Lions Society for Children with Disabilities, and since 1952, we have helped children and adults address life's challenges and given them the tools to build their self-esteem, self-confidence and sense of independence.
A tradition for over 50 years, there have been more than 35,000 children, teens and young adults with diverse abilities who have experienced the magic of Easter Seals summer camp – one of the best nature-based, outdoor summer camps for children and young adults with disabilities.
With a focus on abilities and empowerment, campers try the big swing, wheelchair basketball, water polo, and performing arts, which in turn improves their confidence, independence and interaction with others.
Campers return home with new friendships, improved skills, and become more independent and active members of their communities.
“We were so thankful that you extended camp for Jordans age group when he and his friends aged out at 19. Our children don’t understand the concept of aging out. All they know is that Camp Easter Seals is THEIR camp and Jordan would be devastated if he weren’t allowed to attend. Cognitively, he’s still a child so Camp Easter Seals is the one thing that he looks forward to every summer. I know that myself and the other parents cannot put a price on the happiness that camp brings to our kids. Please consider how few places there are for our young adults to be accepted for their childlike innocence. They can just be themselves and they can leave therapy, doctors appointments and everyday stresses to wait for a week while they just live without borders, judgement or pressures to be someone else’s perception of who they should be. Jordan truly feels like Camp Easter Seals is the best place in the world!! That’s a wonderful feeling for me as his mom as I’m packing his suitcase. Thank you for giving my boy the happiest experiences that are shaping his view on the world💟.” ~ Lisa, Jordan's mother
