Our Mission

The Edmonton Heritage Council supports the work of individuals and organizations that research, preserve, protect and present Edmonton's unique heritage.

Our vision is of a city where memory and history are an integral part of community life, indispensable to Edmonton's economic, social and cultural life.

About Edmonton Heritage Council Society

The Edmonton Heritage Council is an important voice and narrator of Edmonton's memory. We're an active and provocative link between citizens, historians, curators, educators, business and government: everyone who seeks to to understand how our history meets our future. Here's how we're doing this:

- Rolling out a strategy for Edmonton's heritage and memory organizations to innovate and work collaboratively to increase their service to citizens and society

- Provide grants to innovative heritage organizations and projects

- Building Edmonton Maps Heritage, an online place for Edmontonians to "put themselves on the map"

- Creating a city museum-- eventually a facility, but for now we've launched the Edmonton City as Museum Project to engage and connect Edmontonians to less known aspects of their city's heritage.
