The Financial Impact - One gift. Two lives.
As costs rise, many older adults struggle to care for themselves and their dogs. Many face hard decisions, like whether they can even keep caring for their furry family member.

StatsCan estimated in 2022 that, on average, a person will spend upward of $4,000 per year on an adult dog. At ElderDog Canada, we have seen these high costs firsthand. In our last fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, veterinary expenses alone increased by 43% and since COVID, have increased by 341%.

ElderDog Canada was founded in 2009 and is entirely volunteer-powered. Our 41 established Pawds across Canada help older adults and their beloved dogs every day. More than 4,500 active volunteers walk dogs, assist with pet transportation and pet food delivery, and provide temporary loving homes for dogs whose humans can no longer care for them due to illness, relocation, or death.

Currently, more than 1,100 older adults across Canada receive our services, and to date we have rehomed 1,657 dogs into loving, forever homes.

Your donation goes directly to dogs in our programs and helps maintain the connection between older adults and their dogs. $25 can help with a dog's nail trim, $50 can help purchase a quality bag of dog food, and $100 can help provide prescription medication for a dog.
