Project Winter Survival 2024

We are a grass roots charity, founded by businesswomen in the GTA, to help alleviate the suffering of those who are underhoused and help them survive the winter.  Every January, we pack and distribute at least 3,000 new sleeping bags and backpacks containing warm winter outerwear (gloves, socks, hand & toe warmers, toque and scarf) along with hygiene necessities, refillable water bottles and other items.  Our goal this year is to distribute 3,500 sleeping bags and kits to the agencies who run shelters, community programs and street outreach programs  . We recognize that this is a band-aid solution that doesn't address the root causes of homelessness or provide a solution but, the agencies tell us that the kits are invaluable and much appreciated by those living primarily on the streets.  Street outreach workers can use the kits to approach a vulnerable person and try to engage them in making a change - to a shelter or a program that can help them.

We have no employees and rely heavily on donated product and our volunteers.  We raise money to cover the costs of the sleeping bags and backpacks and any other product, for which we cannot source a donation, along with administration costs such as insurance, audited financial statements, telephone and internet etc. (10%) and event expenses.  We can supply a sleeping bag and kit for approximately $75; the market value of a kit is at least $175.  You can be assured that your donation is being put to a tangible use.
