Ensemble Laude Women's Choir

about

Our Mission

Ensemble Laude is a vibrant choir of approximately 50 vocalists united by a passion for choral music.

Ensemble Laude’s purpose is to encourage and promote education and performance of choral music for all ages, young and old alike. It particularly celebrates the beauty and resilience of women’s vocal traditions through the ages, offering powerful choral concerts which uplift and inspire their audience. The lives of the singers and their listeners are transformed in beautifully curated performances of women’s music.

Ensemble Laude has a unique mentorship programme where several aspiring youth conductors are trained each year under the auspices of our Artistic Director, Dr. Elizabeth MacIsaac. As well, EL provides opportunities for women and girls from a wide range of backgrounds to perform at a high level of excellence.

In terms of repertoire, Ensemble Laude focuses on the research, performance, and enjoyment of early music, Canadian music and unique multicultural music, frequently in collaboration with other singers and instrumentalists.

A nationally acclaimed performing group, Ensemble Laude tours with a Canadian based choral programme every three years. At the same time, Ensemble Laude offers flash mob style concerts in various local venues and sings regularly at local community events, including the Shakespeare Festival, the Royal Oak Burial Park “SOULstice” Celebration and the Beacon Hill Park Summer Concerts. With joy, Ensemble Laude also performs in Seniors Residences and schools.

Ensemble Laude is strongly committed to give back to the community and is proud to offer fundraising concerts for worthy community organizations such as Bridges for Women, Women in Need, the Mary Manning Centre, the Royal Oak Burial Park, the Canadian Women Composers Guild, the Shakespeare Festival and the Rainbow Kitchen.
