Every July to September, EWR receives many calls about young squirrels that have been orphaned or injured. These squirrels are not mature enough to be released before winter, and will be in the care of EWR until the following Spring. There are 43 Eastern Grey Squirrels in care for the winter 2023-2024, along with numerous other animals, including several birds, bats and a Snapping Turtle. Your support is needed to contribute to the groceries and other supplies that must be purchased to care for these animals until their release in April-May.
