Ernestine’s Women’s Shelter provides support, emergency shelter, and transitional housing for women and children escaping violence. We assist women and children in rebuilding their lives by providing crisis intervention and a range of holistic support services, while acknowledging the multitude of issues facing survivors of abuse.

Ernestine’s adapts its services to honour diversity and the unique needs of the individual. We advocate for early intervention and prevention and we promote awareness and education.

Last year alone, the counsellors at Ernestine's received 1351 Crisis Calls. The Shelter assisted 45 women and 45 children, and conducted 1247 counselling sessions. Sadly, every year Ernestine's is forced to turn away countless families who require our support and safety, because of financial constraints. We always operate at capacity.
