Every year since 1990, the Esmeralda Enrique Spanish Dance Company has produced a dance season in Toronto, creating new work at the Harbourfront Centre, bringing together Canadian dancers, singers, and musicians.

This year, we are excited to announce that we will be filming two individual, but interconnected, short films. These will include original choreography by Spanish artists (initially commissioned for the cancelled 2020 stage production, Tierra) that are being developed by Esmeralda and our Company Dancers, as well as original and adapted music by Canadian musicians in Toronto and Montreal.

Notwithstanding further lockdowns, we plan on filming this Fall and broadcast in the Winter.

Fundraising Campaign

A significant part of our revenue relies on public gatherings including advanced theatre ticket sales and selling program ads. The loss of this revenue, compounded with the additional costs of producing a film (equipment rental, additional artists and crew, multiple locations, post-production), means we are launching a dedicated campaign with the goal of raising $20,000 in individual donations and sponsorships to support our project.

From now until December, we will send updates with information on the project, introduce you to our Director, our Artists, and our crew, so that you can be part of our process.

Support our Artists!

Support Rehearsal and Development: Your donation of$25, $50, $75 provides dancers and musicians a salary for their time developing the choreography and music for the films.

Support a Design Element: Your donation of$100,$200, will go towards costumes, sets, and other design elements.

Support an Artist or Tech Crew: Your donation of$300 - $600 will go towards paying one day of a Dancer, Musician or Technical Crew’s salary during filming and post-production. This includes Cinematographers, Lighting Designers, Camera Operators, Editors, Colourists.

Sponsor our Production: Your donation of$1000 or more, will go towards those big expenses like renting professional equipment including cameras, lenses, grip and lighting, location permits and insurance, etc. etc. etc……...
