Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement in Canada
Our Mission
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada (Christian Disciples), plans to reach the world and Canada with the gospel of the kingdom of God through a biblical model that the early 1st century church followed, practiced and believed as the New Covenant people of God. Our vision is to encourage people to enter ministry, to be who they are "in Christ," to find success through the power of the Holy Spirit, to search the scriptures as their final authority, to be in relationship with God and His people, and to reach out to all cultures within their own culture - a people, not of bricks and mortar - but a people who are the true church of Jesus Christ.
About Evangelical Christian Church in Canada (Christian Disciples)
The Evangelical Christian Church in Canada (Christian Disciples), as a Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement in Canada, traces its historic roots to the formal organization of the Christian Church in 1810, near Stratford, Prince Edward Island, through the immigration of members of John R. Stewart of the Scottish Baptist Church from Perthshire, Scotland, and also under the leadership of Barton Warren Stone (1772-1844), a former Presbyterian minister which founded the Stone-Campbell Movement in 1804 in Bourbon County, Kentucky, U.S.A. The Stone Movement later merged with the efforts of Thomas Campbell (1763-1854) and his son Alexander Campbell (1788-1866) to become the Restoration Movement that gave birth to the Churches of Christ (Non-Instrumental), the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ, and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
