The YMCA has been part of our community since 1978, when it was founded by the Rotary Club of Grand Falls. It began in a small space in the basement of the Anglican church before moving to the gymnasium behind the Catholic church on Church Road.
One of the YMCA’s founding members, Frances M. Nichols, played a key role in helping the organization grow and relocate to its current home on Price’s Avenue. In recognition of her lasting impact, the building was renamed the Frances M. Nichols Community Centre in 2000.
