The Dr. Ronald Sax Memorial Scholarship was established by the Waterloo Regional Health Unit to honour the memory of Dr.Sax's commitment to social justice and to life-long learning. This scholarship is a renewable award for youth in and from care with Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region. This initiative is a long-term strategy to foster academic and employment success.

Over the last ten year's, the generosity and support of donors to the fund have provided 16 scholarships to youth in and from care. These youth have faced extraordinary odds – less than 50% of youth in care complete high school and of that, less than 20% continue to post-secondary studies.

Your support makes it possible for youth to imagine a future that includes post-secondary education. Time after time the scholarship recipients have expressed their gratitude and joy. But it is also a success for all of us. We know that what makes a difference in their lives also makes a difference in our community.

We thank you for your incredible support over the last ten years and thank you for honouring Ron’s legacy. Your kindness and shared memories of Ron have sustained our family during difficult times.  We are extremely grateful.
