FENDLI; It is an all-volunteer non-profit Quebec organization that helps the hundred children and young adults welcomed by the "Village" Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, in Croix-des-Bouquets, in the suburbs of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
The FENDLI story began with the meeting of an Air Transat flight attendant, Anne-Marie Bryson, and a nun, Sister Diane. This one, who had worked for a long time in Haiti and who, with her congregation, came to the aid of a children's home had spoken about it with Anne Marie who decided to go and visit the place and bring her help. .
In the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake (earthquake), Sister Diane took Anne-Marie to Croix-des-Bouquets to visit what was at the time a vacant lot where a Haitian social worker sheltered dozens of children in poor conditions. very limited humanitarian aid.
At that time, 96 children lived in the home in miserable conditions: only one toilet for the boys, none for the girls, the children ate outside, slept together in the same bed and had to go to school in the neighborhood.
Back in Quebec, Anne-Marie tried to convince her colleagues to go and do volunteer work there. This is how our current president, France Robillard, not only discovered the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes home, but fell completely in love with all these magnificent children. Then, Gilles Hudicourt, captain of Air Transat of Haitian origin, joined the team. Other Air Transat employees slowly got involved, then friends, then other friends. Little by little, FENDLI grew.
Today, FENDLI has a Board of Directors, a hundred volunteers who regularly visit the Village and several godfathers and godmothers who help us financially on a regular basis. Not to mention all the work, big and small, that the members of FENDLI carry out and the various material donations they bring each time they go to the Village thanks to the generosity of Air Transat.
We actively participate in the construction and maintenance of buildings, but our primary mission is to help with the education of children, their food and their health through multiple projects and actions. Our ultimate goal is to make these children, in adulthood, independent women and men
