Our Mission
Fernie Search and Rescue is dedicated to assisting individuals who find themselves in emergency situations in wilderness situations; they may be lost, injured or threatened by some natural disaster.
About FERNIE & DISTRICT SEARCH AND RESCUE SOCIETY
Fernie Search and Rescue members act as first responders to emergency incidents occurring in the backcountry in their catchment area. This catchment area covers approximately 8,000 square kilometers of rugged mountain terrain, fast moving rivers, lakes and small communities. Emergency Management BC (EMBC) and the RCMP call on us whenever people are reported missing or injured in the Elk Valley. Over our 35 year history we have saved numerous lives.
