Who We Are

The Fernie Women's Resource Centre is a registered not-for-profit charity located in British Columbia's Elk Valley. Our aim is to raise the status of women by acting as a referral and drop-in centre, offering support to women and their families, and informing and educating the public around issues concerning women. We seek to support women by removing barriers to their full economic, social, cultural, legal, and political participation.

Services We Offer

We provide women in the Elk Valley with numerous supports and programs to help them engage in community and realize their voice.  These include advocacy, emotional and instrumental support, referrals, and community education. We offer Stopping the Violence counselling and outreach services to any woman who has ever experienced any violence or trauma in her life. We run a Bellies to Babies program, children's programs, and parent-tot programs to help parents and children prepare for school, support healthy development, and act as a social gathering. In addition, we also run girls groups, a yoga class, host monthly lunches, offer internet/fax/phone services,  provide condoms and feminine products, and much more. All of our classes and programs are provided free of charge.
