Film Access Northumberland

about

Film Access Northumberland is an arts-based charitable organization...

Film Access Northumberland (FAN) is a volunteer-run registered charity dedicated to promoting community, tolerance, and understanding through the art of film.

PUBLIC EXHIBITIONS: FAN hosts public film screenings and exhibitions, featuring a diverse range of films that explore various themes, cultures, and genres. These events provide a forum for open discussion and encourage the exchange of ideas.

SEMINARS & MASTERCLASSES: FAN invites renowned filmmakers, industry experts, and scholars to conduct seminars & masterclasses. These educational sessions cover a wide array of topics, from the technical aspects of filmmaking to the sociocultural impact of cinema.

WORKSHOPS: To support budding talent and provide practical experience, FAN organizes workshops that are open to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced filmmakers.

AWARDS: FAN recognizes the challenges faced by emerging filmmakers. We offer financial awards as well as in-kind equipment and services to help further their career in film. These awards serve as both a source of funding and a vote of confidence in their creative endeavours.

MENTORSHIPS: Through partnerships with industry professionals, FAN provides mentorship opportunities for aspiring filmmakers. This invaluable guidance helps filmmakers navigate the complexities of the industry, refine their skills, and bring their visions to life.

COLLABORATION WITH OTHER ARTS ORGANIZATIONS: By collaborating with talented arts organizations our audience (and visiting filmmakers!) are exposed to the vast artistic potential in Northumberland County.

FAN’s primary event is the Eye2Eye Film Festival, a platform for engagement, connection and learning.

The Eye2Eye Film Festival is held every June, showcasing significant and high-quality films that aim to inspire and engage our audiences.

We invite artists and filmmakers to present their works, participate in Q&A sessions and conduct Masterclasses. Our 3-day festival provides an essential link between audiences and filmmakers, offering opportunities for community engagement, connection and learning.

The Eye2Eye Film Festival is committed to supporting local Emerging Filmmakers through our Film Newcomer and Film Forward short film Showcases. The finalists are able to forge connections with their peers as well as with industry professionals and mentors.
