Five Counties Children's Centre

about

Five Counties Children’s Centre is dedicated to working with families and community partners to provide innovative, evidence-based care for children and youth with physical, developmental and communication needs; enhancing their independence and enriching their quality of life.

Five Counties Children’s Centre has been supporting children and youth with physical, developmental and communications needs for nearly five decades.

Your support will directly impact the day-to-day lives of the children who come through our doors and their families. Your gift will provide therapy services that assist children who are delayed in their development to develop the skills they need in everyday life such as walking, talking, and activities of daily living.

Our current needs are:

a) Our Building Abilities for Life Campaign is set to raise $500,000 to support occupational therapy and speech and language services for children in all the communities we serve. These are our highest needs programs with a current waiting list of 18-24 months for 2,634 children. With your help, more children can be treated sooner.

b) The Equipment Loan Program helps families by providing therapy equipment for short-term loans to parents or other agencies serving children associated with the Centre. This helps families who may only need the equipment for a short time, a child who will outgrow an item quickly or for families who may not be able to afford purchasing the equipment outright. Items include wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, bath seats, standers and other aids for daily living.

c) The Northumberland Backyard Project is a partnership between Five Counties Children's Centre, Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre, Northumberland County and YMCA Northumberland. The project's goal is to improve accessibility and safety for children/ youth (birth-19 years) with and without physical, developmental, communication needs (and their families) by creating a backyard green space at Five Counties' Northumberland site to offer increased space and options for treatment.

d) Our Making Dreams Come True Endowment Fund will continue to grow with your gift because only the interest from the fund can be spent (not the capital). This provides a source of funding that helps us ensure financial sustainability for the programs and services that support our kids.

Please give to our kids today. With your help we can make what seems impossible, possible.
