In 2017, Flamborough Information and Community Services celebrated 40 years of serving the Flamborough community. A diverse area of rural farming communities, small towns and villages, Flamborough is part of the Greater Hamilton Area. Because the community is growing rapidly, there are gaps in services and programs.
In early 2018 FICS' became Flamborough Connects to better reflect its primary role of connecting individuals and community agencies with each other through information and referral, counseling services and front line programs. Flamborough Connects actively participates in community and shares knowledge, experience and expertise across every sector of the community. Whether that is to ensure isolated seniors have access to transportation services, or young families are able to take advantage of income tax support clinics, we step in where there is need.
Volunteers are an essential component of all community based non-profit programs. Not only does Flamborough Connects work with volunteers, it also assists other non-profit agencies to recruit and support volunteer engagement.
