Flin Flon/Creighton and Area SPCA

The Flin Flon/Creighton and Area SPCA is a not-for-profit animal shelter dedicated to providing care, safety, and a second chance to animals in need throughout our community and surrounding areas.

Our shelter accepts animals surrendered by their families, animals found stray or without a home, and animals who are injured or otherwise require immediate care. Every animal who comes into our care receives a veterinary assessment, appropriate vaccinations, and spay/neuter services as part of our commitment to responsible animal welfare and finding them loving, permanent homes.

Since moving into our current location in 2012, the Flin Flon/Creighton and Area SPCA has rescued and cared for an average of 100 animals each year. Many cats and dogs are currently waiting patiently for their FURever families. Until those homes are found, our animals depend on our dedicated staff to provide them with food, shelter, medical care, cleaning, enrichment, socialization, and love 365 days a year.

The Cost of Caring

The average annual cost of operating our shelter is approximately $150,000. These funds are essential to keeping our doors open and providing the level of care our animals deserve.

Our operating expenses include:

• Staff wages

• Food and daily supplies for the animals

• Veterinary examinations, vaccinations, medications, and surgeries

• Spay and neuter procedures

• Shelter utilities and operating expenses

• Property taxes

• Cleaning and maintenance

• Other essential costs associated with the daily operation of the shelter

Veterinary care represents a significant portion of our annual operating costs, particularly when animals arrive requiring urgent medical attention, surgery, treatment, or ongoing care.

As a not-for-profit organization, we rely heavily on fundraising, donations, and the generosity of our community to meet these expenses. We could not continue the important work we do without the support of individuals, families, local businesses, and organizations who believe that every animal deserves a chance.
