Hi there! We’re Fondation LoLa, a registered Canadian charity (Charity Number: 758770812RR0001) on a mission to bring the power of books and learning to communities that need it most. We believe education changes lives, and through safe, welcoming spaces, we’re creating opportunities for children and families to thrive.
What We’re Currently Doing: The Righini Community Library
Imagine growing up in a community where books are a rare treasure, and public libraries simply don’t exist. That’s the reality for kids in Righini, Kinshasa, but we’re here to change that.
We’re building a bi-level community library—a space where students can study, discover new worlds through books, and access technology they’ve never had before. This library will be the heart of the community, offering learning resources, tutoring sessions, and even free internet access to help everyone grow and succeed.
How We’re Making It Happen
So far, we’ve raised $5,141 toward our goal of $83,500, and we’re making great progress:
- We’ve demolished the old structure and completed electrical work on the main floor.
- Next up? Building the second floor, setting up bookshelves, and creating cozy spaces for reading, studying, and community events.
But here’s the thing—we can’t do it without you. We still need $78,359 to bring this dream to life.
Why It Matters
For kids in Righini, this library isn’t just a building. It’s a chance to dream, learn, and build a better future.
- Every $20 buys a children’s book.
- Every $100 provides a desk and chair.
- Every $500 helps us build the second floor.
This isn’t just about books—it’s about giving children the tools to succeed and creating a brighter future for the entire community.
Meet Grace
Grace is 10 years old and dreams of becoming a teacher. But with no books at home and no library nearby, studying is tough. “This library will help me and so many kids at my school,” she says. With your help, Grace and hundreds of other children can access the resources they need to chase their dreams.
How You Can Help
Ready to make a difference? Here’s how:
- Donate Today: Every dollar gets us closer to opening the library’s doors.
- Spread the Word: Share our story with your friends, family, and coworkers.
- Sponsor a Space: Want to make a big impact? Sponsor a bookshelf, study area, or even a computer lab—we’ll recognize your contribution in the library!
