10th Annual Footprints Summer Dance Instensive
In August 2018 we will offer 40 youth-at-risk from all over Calgary, the opportunity to participate in the program. Youth train from 10:30am to 5:30pm in hip hop, contemporary dance, lyrical, video and dramatic performance under the direction of four practicing professional artists/performers. This year's program will again incorporate the media arts as the platform for the final performance creation.
Students are instructed and mentored in presenting an original dance creation on video, for broadcast on the Footprints Dance Project YouTube Channel. Collectively the youth create short videos, which are written, performed and directed by the student body. Discussion of issues such as relationships, gender roles, bullying, etc. inspire dramatic stories and creative responses to the tough issues these students face.
The program cost is $800/student for the four-week program. All students participating are provided with full scholarships Students are referred to the program by helping community professionals - social workers, police officers, shelters, group homes and immigrant support organizations.
Help us to provide an amazing summer experience to a deserving child.
