Fort Edmonton Foundation — The Heart of the Park Keeping History Alive. Inspiring Future Generations.
At the heart of Fort Edmonton Park is a community of supporters who believe history matters.
The Fort Edmonton Foundation is the heart of the park—dedicated to preserving Edmonton’s past and bringing history to life for generations to come.
Founded in 1969 by Rotarians, business leaders, and passionate community members, the Foundation helped rebuild Fort Edmonton and establish what is now Canada’s largest living history museum. What began as a bold community vision has grown into one of Edmonton’s most treasured cultural destinations.
Today, thanks to the generosity of donors, volunteers, and community partners, Fort Edmonton Park spans centuries of stories. Visitors can explore the award-winning Indigenous Peoples Experience, walk through authentic buildings from the fur-trade era, and step into the vibrant streets of 1885, 1905, and the 1920s. From historic artifacts to the beloved steam locomotive and midway, the Park is where Edmonton’s story truly comes alive—and the Foundation is what keeps that story beating.
Your Donation Opens the Gates — One Child at a Time
As the heart of the park, the Fort Edmonton Foundation connects community generosity directly to meaningful impact through the Fort Edmonton Foundation CARES (Creating Accessible Responsive Education for Sharing) Initiative.
This initiative focuses on expanding access to Fort Edmonton Park for children, youth, families, schools, and community groups who may be experiencing social or economic barriers that limit their ability to visit.
Just $100 provides one child or youth with a full Fort Edmonton Park experience. That includes admission, interactive programming, meals, rides, and the opportunity to fully participate in the unforgettable learning experiences that make the Park so meaningful.
Through CARES, your donation helps:
- Create lasting memories for the next generation
- Provide access for schools, families, community groups, First Nations, and Métis groups
- Support responsive programming tailored to community needs
- Educate children and youth about Edmonton’s history through immersive experiences
- Share history through meaningful, hands-on learning
Many children in our community face barriers that prevent them from visiting the Park due to the cost of admission, meals, rides, and programming. Through partnerships with organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Edmonton and others, the CARES initiative removes those barriers and ensures every child has the opportunity to learn, explore, and belong.
Your gift of $100 can open the gates for one child. Your continued support can open the gates for many more.
