The Fort Museum is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the NWMP, First Nations of the area and the local history of the town of Fort Macleod.
The Museum was built and first opened in 1957. In 1973, to celebrate the centennial of the formation of the North West Mounted Police, the Fort formed its Mounted Patrol and a year later began performances of the NWMP Musical Ride, and has proudly kept the tradition to this day.
The Fort houses 8 buildings with 11,000 artifacts and extensive archives and is the original location of two of the oldest buildings in the area, the Fredrick Haultain Law Office and the Fred Kanouse Trading Cabin.
