The Forth Junction Heritage Society has developed a concept for a unique and attractive community family-friendly heritage rail park that includes the replication of several railway stations that once existed in Central Alberta. These structures would house historic railway and transit artifact and interpretive exhibits, historic miniature-world model railway exhibits showing the evolution of regional development, children's pavilion, hobby and craft workshop areas, games room, video room, meeting room, library, gift shop, refreshment bar, reception, archives storage and research and administration. The concept also includes a regional cultural tour depot, children's themed playgrounds, ornamental gardens, train-viewing platform, trails, picnic areas, natural areas, miniature railway, full-size railway displays, hidden unrestored equipment zone and engine house. The rail park would surround a separate but complementary commercial tourist zone that would contribute to the creation and operation of the park. Although much research and consultation has already been done, the realization of this concept requires the completion of a professional business plan, land acquisition, an exhibition structure to house the recently-acquired Calgary & Edmonton museum artifact collection and start-up expenses. Help create a legacy rail park for future generations to research, learn, enjoy, relax, reflect and interactively experience the social, environmental, technological and structural impact of railways and transit in the development of Central Alberta.
