To be a Christian community offering holistic support to people who have experienced marginalization, incarceration, and poverty. Through kinship, compassion, and encouraging hope, we believe they will discover their divine purpose and transformation in becoming valued and contributing members of our community.
SERVING THOSE IN NEED
From its beginning in 1992, Forward House has been a residential Christian rehabilitation centre for men who have experienced marginalization, incarceration, homelessness, addictions, and mental health issues. Applicants come to us from the courts, addiction centers, parole services, and community ministries and agencies.
New residents are accepted and received for who they are as individuals, created by God, as we seek to understand them as individuals, without judgement of any kind. Over time trust and confidence develops, as we help and guide them to develop a growing hope in the future.
We strive to nurture their desire to receive help and to guide them to experience hope for the future. In the process they learn that there is a God who loves them, and as they experience change and the beginnings of positive transformation, they are led to discover their divine purpose in life. As residents progress, they gain confidence in themselves , and may ultimately consider interim residency and independent living, with on-going support.
Jesus prayed that as a people created by God, we all belong to one another, and collectively we all belong to God. We have a responsibility to care for one another; to be compassionate and love one another; and live in community with God. That focus is at the heart of Forward House.ca
