The Free Will Players Theatre Guild (FWP) produces the Freewill Shakespeare Festival in Edmonton, Alberta. Our annual festival started as a pass-the-hat endeavor and has evolved into a full-fledged theatre company, celebrating the works of William Shakespeare and exploring the relevance of his themes to contemporary audiences. The FWP are committed to keeping our ticket prices as low as we can, to providing employment opportunities to local artists, and to mentoring theatre professionals of the future.

Every summer, we employ over 50 local actors, designers, contractors, production and administrative teams, site and volunteer coordinators, and more. 40% of the FWP’s yearly budget goes to paying artists’ fees. A wonderful group of over 100 volunteers donate nearly 3000 hours to our festival each summer.
