Friends of Strathcona County Library

about

The Friends of Strathcona County Library Society (“Friends”) is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Strathcona County Library through volunteering, fundraising, and advocacy.

Established in 1993, the Friends has raised over $600,000 to enhance library services, collections, and community programs. While government funding covers much of the operational budget and large donors contribute to major projects, it’s the smaller, often unfunded enhancements that can elevate the library experience. That’s where Friends come in—we make these significant improvements possible.

How We Help

Whether it's funding Welcome Baby Kits to support early literacy, expanding library collections with materials like Wonderbooks, Ukrainian-language books, or expanded digital collections, Friends supports the Library in responding to emerging needs and enhancing services for all residents, while operating as a separate volunteer-run organization.

You can choose to support a specific area—such as Early Childhood Literacy or Library Collections—or make a general donation that helps us respond to new opportunities as they arise. As a registered charity and non-profit organization, we provide tax receipts for donations and submit annual returns to the CRA.

Get Involved

In addition to donating, we always welcome new volunteers! From helping at book sales to assisting at community events, every effort supports our mission.
