about

Camp Borden, now known as Canadian Forces Base Borden, officially opened in July 1916, in the middle of the First World War. This is also the birthplace of Canada’s Air Force in 1917 and the location of the first purpose-built military aircraft hangars, now a National Historic Site. Hangar 11 is one of those original hangars. Today, Base Borden is the heart of Canadian military technical training.

Dedicated to preserving the history of Base Borden's legacy, the Friends of Base Borden Military Museum is committed to telling the stories of our Canadian Troops and their heroic actions and commemorating those who fought to create the country we know today.

As a registered charity, our mandate is to support the activities and objectives of the Base Borden Military Museum (BBMM): to protect and promote our military heritage as it relates to Canadian Forces Base Borden since its inception in 1916.
