Friends of the North Vancouver Museum & Archives Society

about

MONOVA: Museum of North Vancouver proudly opened its doors in its new Lower Lonsdale location in 2021. This new extraordinary community hub is nestled in the natural beauty of the North Shore mountains.

For over 50 years, the Museum of North Vancouver and Archives have brought stories to life to engage, inspire and instil an appreciation of our growing community's diverse heritage.

The Friends of the North Vancouver Museum and Archives Society is the registered charity and fundraising arm for MONOVA with all donations eligible for a tax receipt. We’re honoured to support a treasured community amenity and tourist destination in the dynamic Shipyards District AND the excellent services at the Archives of North Vancouver in Lynn Valley. The Museum and Archives continue to operate as one organization with two locations, together strengthening our community for today and for future generations.

Your donations will go to support MONOVA in these five areas:

  1. MUSEUM: Museum of North Vancouver in the Shipyards District
  2. ARCHIVES: Archives of North Vancouver in Lynn Valley
  3. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: for K-12 students, and public programs for general audiences - on and off site
  4. ONLINE EXPERIENCES: website features, virtual exhibits and archival photo collection etc.
  5. OUTREACH: mobile exhibits throughout the community in libraries, recreation centres etc., traveling exhibits, programs and workshops

Please consider making a gift today to support innovative and compelling programs and exhibits that reflect our diverse North Vancouver community.

Since opening in December 2021, tens of thousands of guests from around the world have participated in programs and events at MONOVA, and have visited our galleries to discover, learn and connect. In this time MONOVA has hosted engaging school and public programs and events, including the thought-provoking Connections Speakers Series and Coast Salish Cultural Programs; held our first-ever Pride events in 2023; and welcomed the community to commemorate National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. In April of 2023, MONOVA’s work was recognized by the Canadian Museums Association with an award for outstanding achievement in the area of Social Impact for our Main Exhibit Gallery.
